Another Update

Hey everyone! So anyways I went to an ankle/foot specialist today, turns out my dr was wrong and I actually have a bone contusion not a fracture and its the ligaments that are torn. Anyways the Dr. said basicly I have sprained my ankle baddly enough and enough times that its just not going to get better by itself anymore. I rolled my ankle and fractured it in 5th grade, rolled it and fractured it again in 6th grade, and I have rolled it many times sense then... I roll it badly every couple months and minor ones about once a month. Anyways the ligaments heal each time, but they never heal back to what they were. My ligaments are so stretched out they don't even do anything anymore in the end my ankle will never get better on its own again. So after some dicussion I will end up having surgery right after prom, but in the meantime I can just wear my brace because I literally can't make it any worse by walking on it as long as I don't roll it again and if I do roll it again theres a good chance I would break or fracture something. Anyways the recovery for the surgery would be about 3 months so I will be out for awhile. Anyways thats it for now blog you guys later!

A FERTILE EGG!!!!

Hey guys! Sorry I haven't been on the past few days its been a little busy! I had to go spend the night at my dad house last night as he was gone and needed someone to take care of the dog. Then Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday was spent working on the "chicken coop". We finally got it finished and have all the broiler chicks moved out. Nick went to work Tuesday and asked some of his co-workers if they would be interested in buying the meat from our chickens.... The people at his work wanted 20 and then my grandma wanted 10 on top of that and our family wanted to have some so my grandma and our family will probably be splitting the left over 7 that others didn't buy...  Nick called and told me to go buy the rest of the chicks left at bombgars and thats what Vironica and I did... we took a dog crate into bombgars and left with 22 more chickens so the final count for broiler chickens is 27.... that brought us to a total of 31 and then to 32 when on Friday morning Vironica and I drove about 40 minutes to meet up with a lady and pick up a rooster. The poor rooster was stuck in the back of the trailer with loose horses because the lady was dropping off her horses somewhere and I think he may have gotten peed on lol he was a little wet... Anyways I checked one of wiese's eggs tonight and I thought it looked like it was fertile, so I asked around on facebook and multiple people said yes they thought it was fertile too! So for the next 10 days I will be collecting wieser's eggs and getting ready to incubate them! Thankfully the incubator I ordered came in pretty darn quick so I have it on standby waiting for eggs :)  Wish me luck! Here's some videos for you guys!!!
The above video is a video of the Rhode Island Red pullets that I curently have in my room haha and below is a short video and kind-of review of what I think of my incubator so far.
Above is a short video showing how vocal my new rooster Gabe is... If you don't know me personally the names don't make sense wieser and gabe, but if you do then its quite a funny joke!!! Down below is the finished product of the farrowing building re-model.... the chicks are all nice happy and warm even though the temp the past few nights and most of the day today has been below freezing.

Long Day!

Hello everyone! Today was a very long day, for those of you who follow my pure horse blog, you would know this but for those of you who are new to my blogs, you know that I had an MRI today. After that I came home, ate lunch, and then we got down to work. Our horse round pen was made from chain link panels, Vironica and I spent awhile taking all the connectors off which involved digging up the bottom of the fence which has sunk a couple of inches in the ground to get to the bolts, then using a small sludge hammer to hit the bolts out and then take the connectors off. We did that 9 times, and then we went out to the old farrowing building and started cleaning, we moved all the tin roofing and old insulation to the other side of the building for now until we expand. Then we sweeped up the floor really good and put it all in a bin, after that Roni and I washed down the concrete and some of the wall, after that we spent about 2 hours un-burrying the bottom parts of the round-pen, and carrying them into the building we were finally finished, we started a little after 2 and finished at 7:30, the end result was pretty good. Vironica and I are going to put the connectors back on tomorrow and wash the panels. There is some insultation that we will be replacing and air windows that will need chicken wire along with putting up the individual dividers to seperate the broilers and layers and end panel with doors. When everything is said and done we will be able to house about 150 birds one the side we are setting up right now. If we do decide to expand and finish the other side we would be able to do double that, but for now we are going to keep it pretty small. Nick is going to do the electrical wiring which will give us working lights and eventually heat lamps. Anyways today was a very productive day, and I feel like I will definatly be sleeping in tomorrow. Here are a few pictures along with a video for you guys, I will try to get one up tomorrow of the little RIR girls for fun. Blog ya then!

Welcome!

Hello everyone! This is the start of my new blog. I am semi-new to chickens, my family has owned chickens in the past, but now I am going to be the sole caretaker raiser and decision maker for our small flock. As of right now I have 3- 3-day old Rhode Island Red pullets, one Rhode Island Red Hen, 5 Cornish X Rock broilers, and on Friday, I will be traveling to pick up a Rhode Island Red Rooster. We are working on re-modeling our old farrowing building into a chicken coop area. Hopefully that will be done withing the next few weeks. Anyways here is a short video, I will eventually start posting videos related to the chickens on my youtube so be sure to check it out!!
